TICKETS and QUEUE for St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican
St. Peter’s Basilica is completely free and there is no ticket to pay to enter.
Often the queue maybe of over 1 hr of waiting. This queue is to pass the metal detector control.
The Basilica of St. Peter has only 2 areas where you need to pay an entrance fee:
– Cupola (Dome): Visits to the dome of St. Peter’s are possible every day from 8 am to 6 pm , April to September and from 8 am to 5 pm, October to March.
– Necropolis: For visits to the tomb of St. Peter and the necropolis : Monday- Saturday from 9 am to 5 Pm
You might purchase tours or use official Audio-guides for the visit of the Dome and/or the Basilica.
You may book a guided tour or an audio-guide fro the visit of the Dome or Basilica. In this case you will have included the reserved queue for your entrance to the Basilica and the Dome.

In Saint Peter’s Square, or Paul VI Audience Hall, or the Courtyard of the summer Papal Residence in Castel Gandolfo (usually in August)

Ticket Collection: by the bronze door located after the metal detectors. Tickets can be picked up either the day before, between 15:00 and 19:00, or on the day of the event, between 7:30 and 10:00
